It&#8217;s an interesting term isn&#8217;t it? We can worship our favorite sports team, family members, spouse, job, money, kids, schedules, TV shows, technology, music, songs, musicians, instruments&#8230;and so on, and so on. And, in the same breath, we turn around and offer our worship to the Creator of the Universe, God.</div>
<div></div>
<div>Throughout my journey as a Youth Minister and a Worship Leader (there&#8217;s that word again), I have always asked myself and struggled with the idea of worship beings something we do Sunday mornings, or on Wednesday nights.</div>
<div></div>
<div>Then there is Jesus who states that all will <em><strong>worship</strong></em> in spirit and truth (John 4). So that means, the very thing that we do with other objects, people and things, in turn, we are suppose to do with God, right?</div>
<div></div>
<div>Or maybe, we redefine what worship is.</div>
<div></div>
<div>One of my new requests in my prayers recently has been, &#8220;God, may I adore you.&#8221; The word adore, or adoration, can drastically change the concept in how we worship. To adore is to regard with the utmost esteem, giving complete honor to someone/something.</div>
<div></div>
<div>Or, more simply, I love music. I love playing video games. I love playing on the computer. I love the mountains. I love&#8230; However, I adore my wife. I adore my son. To say I love them in the same context of music, video games, etc., is to place my wife and son in a area in which they are in direct comparison with those items. Absolutely, there is no comparison.</div>
<div></div>
<div>I do not sit at my desk all day, yearning for my Xbox, or mourning for the day I am camping in Cloudcroft, NM. Yet, when I am away from my wife and son for any time longer than 2 seconds, my entire being feels completely out of sync and my spirit is lost until I am in the presence of them again. This is adoration.</div>
<div>Worship has become something we do, in a sanctuary, on Sunday mornings, with a band, low lights, and songs that intrigue our eardrums. Yet, worship was meant to be a constant, 24/7, 365 days/year part of life.</div>
<div></div>
<div>So that we would worship God in such a way as to say our spirit is in shambles and lost until the return of Christ, and the only way to catch a glimpse of God, that it may refresh the tip of our tongue, is to find him in truth.</div>
<div></div>
<div>I want to encourage you in such a way, that your life would be in adoration to God. That the very moment your feet hit the floor in the morning, you spirit is screaming out for the nearness of God. And that, no longer would any item, person, place, or thing be in direct comparison to who God is in your life.</div>
<div></div>
<div>May we adore Him, today, tomorrow and the day after. And, may Sunday mornings aid in our adoration to God&#8230;</div>
<div></div>
<div>With love,</div>
<div>Curtis Thomas</div>
